Panama's National Migration Service has announced a visa-free entry policy for citizens of nine African countries, permitting stays of up to three months without prior visa arrangements.
Eligible African Countries
The list includes Botswana, Comoros, Gabon, Madagascar, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, and São Tomé and Príncipe. This selection primarily covers southern African nations and island states, leaving out major countries from West and East Africa such as Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Ethiopia.
Options for Travelers from Excluded Countries
Travelers from African countries not on the list may still enter Panama without a visa if they hold valid visas or residence permits from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Schengen states. Additionally, holders of diplomatic passports from certain countries, including Cuba and the Philippines, also qualify for visa-free access.

Panama continues to attract international visitors due to its strategic location with the Panama Canal and a dollarised economy. However, for most Africans, obtaining a visa remains a necessary and sometimes complex process, often requiring additional documentation from Western countries.
