On Thursday, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula officially announced President William Ruto’s nominees to key constitutional commissions, forwarding their names to parliamentary committees for vetting.

The nominees include Antonina Lentoijoni and former Nominated MP Wilson Sossion for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Flora Mutua for the Public Service Commission (PSC), and Dr Duncan Ojwang Oburu for Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

Committee Referrals

  • The TSC nominees were assigned to the Departmental Committee on Education.
  • Flora Mutua’s PSC nomination was sent to the Departmental Committee on Labour.
  • Dr Duncan Ojwang Oburu’s IPOA chairperson nomination was referred to the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security.

Next Steps in Approval

The relevant committees are tasked with conducting public approval hearings and submitting their reports to the National Assembly by August 18, 2026. Following the reports, the House will debate and make final decisions on the appointments.

Once approved, the nominees will fill vacancies arising from the expiration of previous commissioners’ terms and newly declared openings earlier this year.
