The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a month-long partial closure on Waiyaki Way to enable critical maintenance works. The affected stretch lies on the Mombasa-bound lanes between the GTC and Kempinski areas.
The closure will begin on Friday, July 31, 2026, and is expected to last until Monday, August 31, 2026. KeNHA stated the move is necessary to carry out highway upkeep on this busy corridor.
Traffic Management and Motorist Advisory
- Traffic will continue to flow on the sections of Waiyaki Way not affected by the closure.
- Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes to reduce delays and congestion.
- Traffic marshals and police officers will be deployed to manage traffic and assist drivers through the affected section.
- Road users must adhere to the traffic management plans put in place during the maintenance period.
KeNHA emphasised that these temporary measures aim to ensure the safety of both workers and motorists while minimising disruption. Normal traffic operations are set to resume after the completion of the works.
The authority urges regular users of the Mombasa-bound lanes on Waiyaki Way to plan their journeys accordingly during this period.
