Authorities in Kisumu have initiated a search for three armed men who broke into a residential compound in Kamrongo Estate early Thursday morning. The suspects, captured on CCTV, threatened residents with crude weapons and stole valuables before fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. when the trio scaled the estate's gate and forced entry into a home. One victim described the ordeal, recalling how the attackers warned them against raising an alarm and confiscated all mobile phones present.
Another resident recounted how one suspect brandished a firearm when confronted by an unafraid occupant, who was also armed with a machete. The suspects retreated after realizing the resistance.
Residents have expressed growing concern over increasing insecurity in Kamrongo Estate over the past three months, citing multiple incidents involving criminal gangs. The Kamrongo Neighbours Association chairman, Moses Kidi, urged the National Police Service to boost patrols by providing adequate transport to officers, highlighting current mobility challenges.
One person sustained injuries during the robbery and is receiving medical care. Police continue investigations and have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.
