Police in Kasarani Sub-County, Nairobi, are investigating the death of a 20-month-old girl alongside an acid attack on an 18-year-old woman.
Officers responded to reports from a resident in Githurai 44's Rurii area, where a young woman had been assaulted with acid. The victim was rushed to St. John's Hospital for treatment.
While receiving care, the woman disclosed to investigators that the child's mother, identified as her sister-in-law, had strangled the toddler to death in the same residence.
At the scene, police found the child's body lying on the floor, covered with a duvet. The body was then taken to Kenyatta University Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
The acid attack victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. Authorities are actively searching for the child's mother and probing the circumstances surrounding both incidents. No arrests have been made as investigations continue.
