Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing linked to a road rage incident near Nyayo National Stadium along Mombasa Road, Nairobi County.
The victim, 30-year-old Kennedy Ngeno, was reportedly attacked by an online taxi driver following a heated dispute stemming from a minor collision on July 31.
According to Ngeno's family, he had been traveling to Nairobi from his rural home in Roret, Kericho County. Before the incident, he stopped at a cousin's residence in Uthiru, where they socialized, then proceeded to Pipeline with friends traveling separately.
At the scene, the taxi driver allegedly rammed their vehicle from behind, forcing them to stop. The assailant then approached aggressively, striking the car's windscreen. Attempts to evade him were unsuccessful as the driver confronted Ngeno.
A video circulating online shows the confrontation escalating before the taxi driver pulled out a knife and stabbed Ngeno, causing fatal injuries. Another individual was wounded and hospitalized.
Emergency responders rushed Ngeno to Mbagathi Hospital, then transferred him to Kenyatta National Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Ngeno’s wife, Dorcas, described him as the family’s main provider and urged authorities to ensure justice is served.
Ongoing Investigation
Makadara police commander Judith Nyongesa confirmed that detectives have obtained the taxi driver’s details from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). The suspect has been instructed to surrender to law enforcement for questioning.
Police have opened investigations into charges of murder and causing bodily harm related to the case.
Additional Murder Inquiry in Kariobangi
Separately, police are probing the killing of 45-year-old Albert Wambugu, whose body was found at Kariobangi Sports Ground. He sustained a stab wound to his right thigh. Crime scene investigators have documented the site and the body awaits post-mortem examination as the probe continues.
