Authorities in Kisumu East subcounty have opened an investigation following the discovery of a 32-year-old posho mill worker's body in a rented room near Mamboleo Market.

The deceased, identified as Charles Aswani, was found lying face down with visible injuries to his head and face, as well as rope marks around his neck, indicating possible strangulation.

Possible Love Triangle Motive

Preliminary inquiries suggest the killing may be linked to a love triangle. Aswani had reportedly informed a colleague that he was expecting a female visitor on the day he was found. The woman is alleged to be married.

Investigators recovered a handwritten note on the room's wall, purportedly from the assailant, accusing Aswani of having an affair with the writer's wife and infecting multiple people with a disease. The note also stated that Aswani was not a thief. Police are treating the note as evidence but have yet to verify its claims.

Next Steps in Investigation

  • The body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
  • Police continue to seek information to identify and apprehend the suspect.

Separately, police in Awendo, Migori county, are investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman found critically injured outside a residence. She later died in hospital, and authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding her death, including possible sexual assault.
