President William Ruto has emphasized the need for national unity and broad public participation in formulating Kenya’s next long-term development agenda following the conclusion of Vision 2030.

Speaking at ACK St. Stephen's Chepkoilel Church in Uasin Gishu County, Ruto highlighted that Vision 2030, initiated during former President Mwai Kibaki’s era, is nearing completion. He proposed a nationwide consultative process to develop a successor plan that aligns with Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.

Development Plan to Reflect the Constitution

The President noted that Vision 2030 was created before the promulgation of the new Constitution, which now guides governance and development in Kenya. He stressed that the upcoming blueprint must fully integrate constitutional principles, covering human rights, political parties, and elections.

"We cannot have a few individuals deciding the future of the country in secrecy. All Kenyans must contribute to shaping our development path," Ruto said.

Inclusive Governance and Economic Prosperity

Ruto urged leaders, professionals, business communities, and citizens to collaborate in building a prosperous nation free from poverty. He defended government initiatives such as the Affordable Housing Programme and the Social Health Authority, emphasizing their role in uplifting all Kenyans.

He also dismissed criticism over incorporating opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members into his administration, underscoring that the government represents all Kenyans.

Infrastructure Expansion Plans

The President announced plans to extend the Nairobi-Mau Summit highway to Eldoret and Malaba by next year. He revealed the establishment of a National Infrastructure Fund aimed at accelerating road construction, electricity generation, and digital infrastructure development.

  • Target to add 28,000 kilometres of tarmac roads within seven years.
  • Plans to generate an additional 10,000 megawatts of electricity to support Kenya’s digital economy and industries.

Ruto concluded by reiterating that Kenya’s future depends on unity and inclusive participation to achieve sustainable development.
