Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira has dismissed accusations that he conspired to disrupt a Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) rally in Naromoru, Nyeri County.
The allegations were made by East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega, who claimed Wachira and Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina were recruiting youths to interfere with the event ahead of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's visit.
Kega's Accusations
Addressing DCP supporters, Kega warned of coordinated efforts to intimidate the party, stating:
- "Our DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua will be visiting us, and we shall be welcoming him. Though we want to warn because we know there have been meetings, yesterday and today, planned by area MP and PS Alex who are trying to recruit youths to disrupt our meetings."
Wachira's Response
Wachira rejected the claims as baseless and defamatory, emphasizing that no evidence supports the allegations. He accused Kega of seeking sympathy through unfounded accusations and vowed to defend his reputation through legal means if necessary.
He stated, "I have a reputation that I have built over the years, my mantra being servant leadership. You will therefore not pull my name into your dramatic shenanigans and mudslinging."
Wachira reaffirmed his dedication to public service and President William Ruto's vision of advancing Kenya's development, concluding that true leadership involves commitment to people rather than seeking publicity.
