Principal Secretary for Internal Security Raymond Omollo has vowed to intensify efforts against political gangs and criminal elements exploiting youth to foment violence ahead of elections. Speaking at a prayer service supporting church choirs in Nyamira County, PS Omollo emphasized that Kenya’s political landscape must be free from intimidation and criminality.
He urged young people to resist manipulation by politicians seeking to use them for personal gain, stressing that violence and intimidation have no place in democratic processes. "If you do not support a particular leader, wait for the elections and exercise your democratic right," he said.
PS Omollo directed County Commissioners, National Government Administrative Officers, and security agencies to collaborate closely with local leaders and communities to maintain peace and ensure public events proceed without disruption.
Call for Unity and Integrity in Leadership
The PS also condemned leaders who exploit ethnic or religious divisions, urging Kenyans to reject such divisive politics. He announced the operationalization of new administrative units in Nyamira County aimed at improving service delivery and community development.
He encouraged qualified individuals of integrity to apply for Chief and Assistant Chief positions, highlighting the critical role of grassroots administration in enhancing security and development.
Support for Government Development Agenda
During the event, PS Omollo praised President William Ruto’s administration for its focus on equitable development across sectors including roads, education, healthcare, and employment, which he said fosters national unity and inclusiveness.
The prayer service was attended by senior government officials, religious leaders, elected representatives, elders, and residents from Nyamira, Kisii, and neighboring counties.
