Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Raymond Omollo, has issued a stern warning to politicians against recruiting criminal gangs or exploiting youth to intimidate opponents and disrupt public events.
Speaking at a prayer service and fundraiser supporting church choirs in Nyamira County, Omollo emphasized that violence and criminality should not define Kenya's political landscape. He urged young people to reject manipulation and instead exercise their democratic rights peacefully during elections.
"If you do not support a particular leader, wait for the elections and exercise your democratic right. Violence, intimidation and criminal gangs have no place in our politics," Omollo stated.
The PS praised Nyamira residents for maintaining peace and rejecting organized criminal groups, highlighting the county as a model for peaceful political engagement. He instructed local government officials and security agencies to collaborate closely with community leaders to prevent political violence and ensure that public gatherings proceed without intimidation.
In addition, Omollo announced the operationalization of new administrative units in Nyamira County aimed at enhancing service delivery. He encouraged qualified and integrity-driven individuals to apply for Chief and Assistant Chief positions, underscoring the importance of effective grassroots administration for security and community development.
Omollo also called on Kenyans to reject leaders who promote ethnic or religious divisions. He noted that President William Ruto's administration is committed to equitable development across all regions, focusing on roads, education, healthcare, and employment to foster national unity.
The event was attended by various government officials, including Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi, presidential advisor Farouk Kibet, several senators and members of parliament, religious leaders, elders, and residents from Nyamira and neighboring counties.
