The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the registration period for the 2026 Clerical Officers Proficiency Examination, set to run from 21 to 24 September 2026.

The exam will be conducted at nine centres across Kenya, including Machakos, Nyeri, Mombasa, Embu, Garissa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kakamega, and Eldoret. Candidates will receive their exact venue details upon successful registration.

Eligibility and Registration Process

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Hold a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with at least a C- grade or equivalent
  • Be serving as a clerical officer in the public service
  • Have completed a minimum of one year in the role

First-time candidates are required to complete Form A, signed by their Head of Department or Section, while repeat candidates must fill Form B. Both forms are accessible on the PSC website.

Completed forms, accompanied by the government copy of the E-Citizen payment receipt, should be submitted to the Secretary and Chief Executive of the PSC at P.O. Box 30095-00100, Nairobi, by 28 August 2026.

Fees and Payment

The registration fees include a basic fee of KSh 2,625, KSh 875 per examination paper across seven papers, plus a KSh 50 E-Citizen processing charge. All payments must be made through the E-Citizen platform at psc.ecitizen.go.ke.

Late registrations will incur an additional fee of KSh 525 and close on 3 September 2026.

Certificate Collection

PSC also informed officers who sat the September 2025 exam that their certificates are ready for collection at PSC House during working hours. Collectors must present a valid national ID or passport. Officers with uncollected certificates from earlier exams are encouraged to retrieve them.
