The 104th Kenya Amateur Matchplay Championship reached a pivotal stage on Friday as the Round of 16 concluded at Limuru Country Club, confirming the quarterfinalists for the tournament.
A mix of dominant performances and closely contested matches highlighted the day’s play, setting the stage for an exciting quarterfinal showdown scheduled for Saturday, August 1.
Quarterfinal Line-up
- Ewan Widor of San Roque Club secured a commanding 6&5 win over Quram Bhatti from Muthaiga Golf Club and will face Kayden Wissanji of Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club, who edged out local favorite Dusabe Felix 2&1.
- Maahir Patel from Sigona Golf Club defeated Royal Nairobi's Mwathi Gicheru 4&2, setting up a clash with clubmate Junaid Ayaz Manji, who dominated Burundi’s Ngabire Aristide 7&6.
- Jay Sandhu of Muthaiga Golf Club, fresh off his recent NCBA Kenya Amateur Strokeplay Championship victory, continued his strong form with a 6&5 win against William Odek of Nyali Golf & Country Club. Sandhu will meet Windsor’s Elvis Muigua, who narrowly defeated Namibia’s Likius Nande by one hole.
- The final quarterfinal pairing features Nyali’s Adel Taufiq Balala, who won 5&3 over Ruiru Sports Club’s Rafael Leming’ani, against Pranay Kapur of Royal Johannesburg, who beat Sigona’s Parv Kavia 2&1.
The championship has attracted top amateur golfers from across the region, competing for a share of the Ksh 700,000 prize fund and a coveted spot in the 2027 Magical Kenya Open.
