Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio is expected to be sidelined at the beginning of the upcoming La Liga season following a muscle injury in his right thigh.

The 23-year-old centre-back was diagnosed with the injury earlier this week, with medical reports indicating a recovery period of four to six weeks.

This setback means Asencio will miss Real Madrid's initial matches, including their season opener against Espanyol on August 22, followed by home fixtures versus Real Sociedad on August 26 and Malaga on August 30.

The injury is a blow to manager Jose Mourinho’s squad as they prepare for the new campaign.
