Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai has officially announced his intention to contest the Dagoretti North parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Alai, a computer scientist with over 22 years of experience in logistics, ICT, and communications, presented his bid as a direct appeal to constituents rather than a formal job application. He emphasized his four-year tenure as a ward representative as key evidence of his qualifications.
Appeal to Voters
In his announcement made on August 1, Alai addressed various community concerns, stating, "This is not for prestige but a promotion to solve bigger problems on a bigger platform." He targeted parents struggling with education costs, unemployed youth, small traders, women worried about security, and commuters facing traffic challenges.
Controversy Over Social Media Accounts
The declaration sparked debate online after some users questioned the authenticity of the announcement, citing Alai’s previous claims that he does not own any social media accounts. Skeptics questioned who was managing the Facebook post used to make the announcement.
Alai, known for his outspoken role in ODM at the county level, appears poised to expand his political influence nationally as he seeks election to the National Assembly.
