President William Ruto delivered a Special National Address at State House, Nairobi, on Thursday evening, emphasizing the need for a nationwide discussion on Kenya’s development trajectory after Vision 2030.

He highlighted that Vision 2030 has steered the country's growth agenda for nearly 20 years but is now approaching its conclusion. This necessitates crafting a new development framework aligned with the 2010 Constitution.

Inclusive Process for New Development Plan

Ruto called for an inclusive, citizen-driven approach to formulating the next national development charter. He urged participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including political leaders, professionals, youth, civil society, and the private sector.

Economic Progress as Foundation

The President cited Kenya’s economic achievements over the past four years as a solid base for future growth. He noted improvements in macroeconomic stability, enhanced investor confidence, and stronger foreign exchange reserves.

Launch of National Conversation

To kickstart this process, Ruto announced that a formal national conversation on Kenya’s future beyond Vision 2030 will commence on August 12, 2026. He described the initiative as one of the most significant public participation efforts since the 2010 Constitution was enacted.
