President William Ruto has announced that Kenya is prepared to transition into a new stage of economic transformation after overcoming years of financial instability.

In a national address on July 30, 2026, the President highlighted the government's efforts over the past four years to stabilise the economy, rebuild investor confidence, and establish a strong foundation for sustainable development.

Economic Stability Restored

Ruto pointed out that Kenya has achieved significant milestones including a stable currency, increased foreign exchange reserves exceeding Ksh1.95 trillion—enough to cover six and a half months of imports—reduced inflation, and lower borrowing costs. These improvements have contributed to renewed investor confidence.

Record Foreign Investment and Competitiveness

The country attracted a record Ksh414 billion in foreign direct investment last year, more than double the amount in 2022. The President credited business environment reforms for this surge. Kenya also ranked as Africa's most competitive economy in the 2025 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, reflecting growing investor trust.

Shaping Kenya’s Future

Ruto emphasized that Kenya is at a critical juncture to shift focus from economic recovery to long-term transformation. He recalled his previous call for Kenyans to envision and prepare for the nation's future by building institutions that will support sustained growth.

A Historic Opportunity

The President described the moment as a rare chance to redefine Kenya’s development trajectory after decades of missed opportunities. He urged citizens to unite and work towards lasting economic progress.
