Speaking at State House during a meeting with village elders, the President emphasized the government's commitment to safeguarding the electoral process from threats and ethnic divisions.
Ruto warned against any attempts to intimidate voters or foment tribalism, stating that such actions will not be tolerated. He urged all Kenyans to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear or interference.
Call for Peaceful Political Engagement
The President called on community leaders, especially village elders, to ensure that political activities adhere strictly to the law and the Constitution. He highlighted their role in fostering lawful and peaceful political participation as essential to national progress.
“As elders in your villages, help us ensure that everyone conducts their affairs in accordance with the law and the Constitution so that Kenya can move forward as a nation we are proud of,” Ruto said.
Government and Leaders Unite Against Ethnic Politics
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, present at the event, echoed the President’s sentiments. He urged elders to be pillars of peace and to reject politicians who promote division and tribalism, encouraging support for leaders committed to unity and coexistence.
Murkomen stressed the importance of elders in facilitating dialogue, resolving disputes, and discouraging inflammatory rhetoric within their communities.

The President’s remarks come as political activities intensify nationwide in preparation for the 2027 elections. With competition expected to increase, Ruto underscored the need for political competition to remain peaceful and respectful of Kenya’s stability.
