Safaricom has introduced the PATA MORE campaign, a customer-centric initiative aimed at increasing data allowances, reducing mobile money transaction costs, and enhancing digital service offerings. This move supports the company’s ambition to become Africa’s leading purpose-driven technology firm.
Expanded Data Bundles Without Price Hikes
Under the new campaign, data bundles have been significantly upgraded at existing prices. For example:
- The daily Sh20 bundle now provides 250MB, up from 150MB.
- The Sh99 daily bundle offers 1.5GB, increased from 1GB.
- The Sh1,000 monthly package delivers 21.5GB, more than double the previous 10GB.
This enhancement responds to growing demand for affordable internet driven by remote work, online education, streaming, and mobile commerce.
Lower M-Pesa Transaction Costs
Mobile money users benefit from reduced fees:
- Free transfers up to Sh200 via Pochi la Biashara, doubling the prior Sh100 limit.
- Transactions above Sh200 capped at Sh50 for the next 90 days.
- The Lipa na M-Pesa Buy Goods Kadogo limit for merchants raised from Sh200 to Sh500, allowing small businesses to retain more income.
Additionally, merchant checkout is streamlined through the enhanced Scan and Tap to Pay feature.
Additional Digital Services and Device Offers
The campaign bundles voice, data, and insurance with device purchases such as the Neon Ultra 2 smartphone, available for Sh55 daily installments to improve smartphone accessibility.
Specialized bundles for drivers and boda boda riders include connectivity combined with productivity tools and insurance benefits.
Home internet customers enjoy up to 2.5 times faster speeds on Safaricom Fibre plans, with new family sharing and flexible options. Business customers receive improved speeds alongside built-in cybersecurity protections.
Unified Customer Experience
Safaricom has integrated services within the One App, enabling account management, bundle purchases, offer browsing, and customer support in one platform. The AI-powered Zuri assistant is accessible via WhatsApp, the app, or voice bot by dialing 100.
Company Vision
CEO Peter Ndegwa emphasized that PATA MORE is a response to customer feedback, aimed at delivering practical value in daily connectivity, payments, and business support. The campaign aligns with Safaricom’s Vision 2030 roadmap, which focuses on AI integration, regional expansion, and growing the M-Pesa ecosystem.
