French rally legend Sebastien Ogier and his co-driver Julien Ingrassia were hospitalized following a high-speed crash at the Rally of Finland on Saturday.
The pair were leading the race when Ogier lost control on a forest dirt road while driving at approximately 130 km/h. Their Toyota vehicle rolled multiple times before colliding with a tree.
According to World Rally officials, both Ogier and Ingrassia exited the car unassisted and were taken to Tampere hospital for precautionary medical evaluations.
Toyota's assistant director Juha Kankkunnen confirmed that Ogier was shaken but did not sustain any broken bones. "Seb was more shocked than anything else," Kankkunnen told Rally TV.
At the time of the accident, Ogier held a 20-second lead. Following the crash, Finland's Sami Pajari, also driving for Toyota, assumed the race lead with a 46-second advantage over Oliver Solberg, while championship leader Elfyn Evans was in third place.
Pajari remained cautious, noting, "There are still two long stages to do and anything can still happen."
