On the evening of Sunday, August 3, a school bus transporting students to an annual music festival overturned along the busy Bomet-Kaplong Highway in Bomet County.
Preliminary information suggests the bus lost control before tipping onto its side. Due to blocked doors after the crash, students had to exit through the emergency exit with help from bystanders who quickly arrived at the scene.
Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident, and investigations are ongoing. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Six students sustained injuries and were promptly taken to Kaplong Mission Hospital, where they are receiving medical care. All are reported to be in stable condition.
The Bomet-Kaplong Highway has been notorious for frequent accidents, raising concerns about road safety, especially for school transport during long-distance travels to national events.
Officials are expected to inspect the vehicle as part of the ongoing inquiry.
