Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the newest installment from Sony and Marvel featuring Tom Holland, has recorded a staggering $355 million opening weekend in North America.
This debut ranks as the second-highest domestic box office opening in history, just behind 2019's Avengers: Endgame, which earned $357 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
The film also stars Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, Florence Pugh, and Sadie Sink, and explores Peter Parker's life in seclusion after erasing his identity, as he faces personal changes and emerging threats.
Industry analyst David A. Gross described the launch as "colossal," noting the market had lacked a major action release for over two months, creating strong anticipation for the movie.
Internationally, the film pulled in an additional $573 million, bringing its global total to an impressive $928 million. Overseas revenue now accounts for over 60% of the worldwide earnings, with notable strong performance in China.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey held firm in second place with $51 million, reaching nearly $400 million domestically. The film, starring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Holland, retells the epic journey of Odysseus returning home from the Trojan War.
Other top performers include Disney-Pixar's Toy Story 5 with $6.3 million, Universal's Minions & Monsters at $5.8 million, and Disney's live-action Moana remake earning $5.3 million.
The box office top ten was rounded out by Hadestown: The Musical, The Invite, I Want Your Sex, Evil Dead Burn, and Young Washington.
