Authorities have detained a taxi driver suspected of fatally stabbing a man identified as Kennedy near Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi, in the early hours of August 1.
CCTV footage reveals the incident unfolded around 4:36 AM on Mombasa Road, where a minor traffic dispute escalated into violence. The video shows multiple vehicles coming to an abrupt stop, followed by a man taking photos and videos before a confrontation ensued.
During the altercation, Kennedy was chased and stabbed multiple times, including a fatal wound to the chest that pierced his heart. He collapsed shortly after the attack and was rushed to hospital by companions but was pronounced dead.
Police arrested the suspect three days later. He is currently held at Industrial Area Police Station as investigations proceed. Makadara DCIO Hassan Abdulahi confirmed the arrest and indicated that court proceedings to obtain custody orders are imminent.
Makadara OCPD Judith Nyongesa stated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is handling the case and expects the investigation to conclude within a week.
