Three people lost their lives in a severe accident involving a boda boda and a matatu near Mutituni market along the Machakos-Kangundo Road on Monday, August 3.

The boda boda was carrying four pillion passengers heading towards Machakos town when the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle. This manoeuvre resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming matatu travelling in the opposite direction towards Kangundo.

The impact was fatal, killing three of the four passengers on the motorcycle instantly at the scene.

Emergency Response and Investigation

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary at Machakos Level Five Hospital. The lone survivor received urgent medical treatment at the same facility.

Preliminary findings indicate that reckless overtaking on a busy two-way road contributed to the crash. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
