The Registrar of Political Parties has approved three political parties in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The United Party Movement (UPM) received full registration, while the Social Democratic Party of Kenya (SDP) and the People’s Alternative Voice (PAV) were granted provisional registration.
United Party Movement Gains Full Registration
The UPM was issued a certificate of full registration under Section 7 of the Political Parties Act. The party's official colours are orange, black, and white, with a face mask as its symbol. Its slogan is "Stability and prosperity." The party’s headquarters are located in Kitengela Township, behind Nairobi Women Hospital. Founding members of UPM include Chrispinus Fai Tundai, Monica Muchite, Jabiri Sarah Lozi, Ongige Jackson Ndege, and Ligwilu Hezron Maina.
Provisional Registration for SDP and PAV
- Social Democratic Party of Kenya (SDP): Uses pink, white, and sky blue colours, with "SDP" inside a circle as its symbol. Its slogan is "Change - Mageuzi." Founding members are Nyanjong’ Duncan Nyumbah, Omwandasi Jared Dishon, and Kinyua Mary Wacuka.
- People’s Alternative Voice (PAV): Official colours are purple, gold, and white. The party symbol is a shofar, and its slogan is "Sauti Mbadala - Haki, Usawa na Maendeleo." Founders include Odenyo John Fitzgerald Elly, Nyando Rachel Mmboga, and Ali Hussein Kiplangat.
The Registrar has invited the public to submit any written objections regarding the provisional registration of SDP and PAV within seven days of the notice’s publication.
