Tusker FC head coach Julien Mette is keen to see progress as the team faces their last match in the CECAFA Kagame Cup against Zanzibar's KVZ SC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday night.
The Brewers have struggled in the tournament, losing their first two Group C matches to Al Hilal and Rayon Sports, which eliminated them from the competition ahead of their final group game.
Despite the disappointing results, Mette emphasized the importance of patience in his ongoing rebuilding process, particularly as he works to blend new players into the squad. "I am focused on integrating the new players. I know it will take time. Of course we are disturbed by the results, because even I get angry when we lose matches, but this is a process, and we have to be patient," he said.
The coach also highlighted the need to improve the team's attacking efficiency going forward.
Assistant captain Tom Teka expressed the squad's determination to finish the tournament on a positive note. "This last match we have to win. They have been talking about how they can beat us because we have lost our previous matches, but that gives us motivation. We cannot afford to lose again, and we want to finish the tournament with a win," he stated.
The Brewers’ campaign began with a 2-0 loss to Sudan's Al Hilal, followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat against Rayon Sports, leaving them without points and out of contention for the knockout stages.
Similarly, KVZ SC also lost their opening two matches and will be eager to claim their first points in the tournament by capitalizing on Tusker's challenges.
With both teams already eliminated, the upcoming fixture is expected to be a contest of pride and an opportunity to build momentum for future competitions.
