Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two men suspected of robbing and gang-raping a couple who were involved in a road accident near Kikuyu Boys High School in Kiambu County.
The victims were approached by the suspects, who pretended to be Good Samaritans offering help after the accident. Instead, the suspects allegedly robbed them of their valuables, forced them to disclose their M-Pesa PINs, and drained money from their mobile accounts. The female victim was then subjected to a gang rape.
The suspects, identified as Kevin Ndereba Kilonzo and Shaban Warui Zainab, were apprehended in Kamangu, Kikuyu, following a thorough investigation involving forensic analysis, intelligence gathering, and leads pursued by the DCI Headquarters’ Operations Action Team, Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, and Kikuyu Sub-County detectives.
During the operation, the police recovered mobile phones believed to have been used in the fraudulent transactions and two pangas thought to be involved in the offenses.
The investigation is ongoing, with detectives tracking a suspected recipient of the stolen phones and exploring possible connections to other violent crimes in Kikuyu Sub-County and surrounding areas.
The suspects are currently held at Kikuyu Police Station pending an identification parade and further legal proceedings.
The DCI has thanked members of the public who provided crucial information leading to the arrests, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in fighting crime.
