A court has ordered the continued detention of advocate Angela Mulwa and Nelson Masiga until August 4, 2026, as investigations into the killing of psychiatrist Dr Victoria Mutiso proceed.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) requested a 21-day detention period for the two suspects to allow detectives to complete inquiries into several vehicles suspected to be linked to the murder.
So far, four individuals have been arrested in connection with Dr Mutiso's fatal shooting in Nairobi last week, including Chris Mulwa and his mother Rose Mbithe Mulwa, who are also detained for 21 days as investigations continue.

Defence lawyers opposed the extended detention, citing the eviction as lawful and supervised by police, with the property belonging to Rose Mbithe rather than the deceased or complainant Prof David Ndetei.
They argued that evidence could be obtained through seized mobile phones and court orders without prolonged custody, and highlighted that Mulwa is a seasoned advocate with 26 years of practice.
The prosecution countered that familial ties do not grant rights over missing property and emphasized the need to balance suspects' rights with those of victims, given the ongoing nature of investigations.
Principal Magistrate Lilian Nyabando will rule on the DCI's 21-day detention application on August 4.
