Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has urged residents of Siaya County to reject elected officials who have not delivered on development promises. Speaking during the funeral of the late Mzee Esau Oyiro Ogeya in Karapul, on the outskirts of Siaya town, Wandayi emphasized that the county can no longer afford to tolerate ineffective politicians.

"Politics forms the foundation for development, and we cannot continue with trial-and-error leadership," Wandayi stated. He pledged to lead efforts to ensure non-performing leaders are voted out in the upcoming general elections.

Government Development Initiatives in Siaya

Wandayi highlighted ongoing government projects aimed at transforming Siaya. The national government has allocated Sh2.2 billion for rural electrification, targeting over 25 villages within the county.

He also pointed out progress in infrastructure and healthcare, noting that roads previously stalled for years are now being tarmacked. Additionally, the Siaya County Referral Hospital is undergoing refurbishment and expansion to achieve Level Five status.

The Cabinet Secretary called on the public to support President William Ruto's broad-based government, which continues to initiate development programs across various sectors in Siaya.
