Wiper Party deputy minority leader Enock Wambua has dismissed circulating reports that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka met with President William Ruto at State House to discuss a potential political alliance for the 2027 General Election.
Labeling the claims as fabricated and a "deep fake," Wambua stressed that Kalonzo remains firmly committed to the United Alternative coalition. He stated, "If Ruto met a man in State House called Kalonzo, then that man was not Kalonzo Musyoka."
Allegations of Government Disinformation
Wambua further accused the government of deliberately spreading the rumours to undermine Kalonzo’s political influence, citing the opposition leader as the biggest threat to President Ruto’s re-election ambitions.
He emphasized that the opposition coalition will soon announce its presidential candidate, with all leaders agreeing to unify behind the chosen candidate through a joint selection process.
"Kalonzo is a seasoned politician and a senior statesman who will not sacrifice the aspirations of millions of Kenyans for personal gain," Wambua added.
Context of Viral Videos
The denial follows the circulation of videos on social media suggesting that Kalonzo proposed becoming Ruto’s running mate in 2027. These clips sparked debates within opposition circles about the unity of the anti-Ruto coalition ahead of the elections.
