The Wiper Patriotic Front has firmly denied reports suggesting that its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has entered into any working arrangement with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and Wiper Secretary General Shakila Abdalla clarified that Kalonzo remains focused on collaborating with opposition leaders under the United Alternative Government coalition to present a single candidate to challenge President Ruto on August 10, 2027.

Senator Wambua explained that a video circulating in the media, purportedly showing a meeting between Kalonzo and President Ruto, was actually recorded on March 4, 2024, during a formal handover of a report by the National Dialogue and Cohesion (NADCO) team, of which he is co-chair. He dismissed the rumours as deliberate misinformation aimed at destabilising the opposition alliance.

On the same day the false meeting reports emerged, Wambua noted he was attending a separate meeting between Kalonzo and senior editors in Nairobi, further debunking the claims.

During the National Delegates Conference held on October 10, 2025, at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, the Wiper Patriotic Front officially endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka as its sole presidential candidate for the upcoming election. The party remains committed to uniting Kenyans to defeat President Ruto, whom they accuse of failing to deliver on his promises.

Shakila Abdalla condemned ongoing attacks on Kalonzo by allies of the current regime, describing them as attempts to undermine his credibility and distract the public from pressing national issues such as economic challenges and governance concerns.

She highlighted Kalonzo’s extensive public service record, noting his contributions to national cohesion, constitutional reforms, peacebuilding, and Kenya’s international reputation. Abdalla emphasized that misinformation aimed at diminishing his achievements is unfounded and unfair.

Both leaders called on political actors and their supporters to maintain civility, respect democratic principles, and focus political competition on policies and service rather than personal attacks and falsehoods.

The Wiper leadership reaffirmed their commitment to working within the United Alternative Government framework to establish a government that upholds the rule of law, protects constitutional freedoms, and advances economic opportunities for all Kenyans.
