The Wiper Patriotic Front has condemned recent attacks against its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, describing them as attempts to distract Kenyans from pressing national issues.

In a statement released on July 29, Secretary General Shakila Abdalla criticized claims that Kalonzo has no achievements to show after years in public service, labeling such assertions as politically motivated misinformation.

Defending Kalonzo's legacy

The party highlighted Kalonzo's contributions to Kenya's national cohesion, constitutional reforms, diplomacy, and conflict resolution, affirming his status as a distinguished statesman.

Commitment to opposition unity

Wiper reiterated Kalonzo's active role as a principal in the United Alternative Government, emphasizing collaboration with other opposition leaders to present a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Refuting rumors of secret talks

  • Deputy Minority Leader Enock Wambua dismissed reports suggesting Kalonzo met President William Ruto for political talks, calling the claims "deep fake."
  • He confirmed no such meeting occurred and reiterated Kalonzo's loyalty to the opposition coalition.
  • Wambua accused the government of spreading falsehoods due to viewing Kalonzo as a strong challenger to President Ruto.

This response follows President Ruto's earlier criticism of opposition leaders, including Kalonzo, accusing some of lacking vision and clear policy proposals ahead of the upcoming elections.
