Authorities in Kitui County are investigating a tragic case where a woman and her infant son were found dead along a village path, with the husband discovered nearby injured.
Locals alerted police on Saturday after discovering the bodies in Kilimboni village. Officers arrived to find the woman, identified as Joyce Kavutha, and her one-year-old son both with fatal throat wounds. The husband was found with a minor throat injury and was rushed to Zombe Level Hospital under police guard.
Investigators recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife at the scene, which is believed to have been used in the attack. Crime scene officers processed the area before moving the bodies to Mutitu Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Preliminary police reports suggest the incident may have stemmed from domestic disputes. The husband remains hospitalized as inquiries continue, with authorities withholding formal charges until the investigation concludes.
