Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her son, Chris Mulwa, have been formally arraigned in Milimani Court, Nairobi, following the killing of clinical psychologist Dr Victoria Mutiso on July 29, 2026.
Dr Mutiso was fatally shot while commuting to work in a taxi along Mbagathi Road in the Upper Hill area. Preliminary police reports indicate that a dark-colored vehicle blocked the taxi, after which an armed assailant approached and shot Dr Mutiso, who was seated in the back seat. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
In the months preceding her death, Dr Mutiso had reported multiple security concerns, including an alleged attack at her home in Mlolongo and an incident involving an armed man approaching her vehicle while in traffic. Authorities are investigating possible links between these events and her murder.
Detectives are also exploring whether Dr Mutiso was deliberately targeted, with early findings suggesting she may have been followed from her residence prior to the attack.
