ZiiDi Trader Broadens Access for NSE Investors with New ID Options

ZiiDi Trader, a mobile stock trading platform integrated with M-PESA, has expanded its identification requirements to welcome a wider range of investors into the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

Previously, users needed a valid Kenyan national ID linked to their M-PESA account to open a trading profile. This restriction excluded many potential investors, particularly non-citizens and those without a national ID.

New Identification Options

  • Kenyan passport
  • Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) military ID
  • Foreign passports for expatriates and foreign residents

The inclusion of foreign passports is a notable development, allowing non-citizens living or transacting in Kenya to participate in NSE share trading through ZiiDi Trader.

ZiiDi Trader continues to offer a streamlined experience by enabling users to skip traditional stockbroker visits and paperwork. All account setup and share trading are conducted via M-PESA on mobile devices.

This move aligns with broader fintech trends in Kenya aimed at reducing barriers to capital market participation. The NSE has historically faced challenges in expanding retail investor numbers, and platforms like ZiiDi Trader are helping to make stock trading more accessible to both locals and foreigners.
