Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at a women's chama meeting in Saika estate, Nairobi, on Sunday afternoon, July 26.
At around 3 pm, two armed men entered a salon where members of the Queen’s Women Chama had gathered for their regular fortnightly meeting. One of the assailants pulled a pistol, ordering the women to hand over their mobile phones and money, while the other stood guard unarmed.
The robbers made off with a Samsung Galaxy A17 phone and KSh 50,000 in cash that had been placed on a table for the meeting. No injuries were reported during the incident.
A security camera recorded the event, capturing the moment the gunman cocked his pistol, causing panic among the women. As the assailants grabbed valuables, some members fled the scene screaming for help.
Nairobi police chief Issa Mohamud confirmed the incident, stating that Crime Scene Investigation officers had processed the scene for forensic evidence. He assured the public that leads are being actively pursued and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspects.
This robbery comes amid intensified police operations targeting armed robbery syndicates across Nairobi, which have resulted in multiple arrests, weapon recoveries, and some suspects being neutralized.
