Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has called on Western Kenya residents to support the Linda Mwananchi movement, describing it as a pathway to economic empowerment and responsible leadership.
During a rally in Trans Nzoia County, Babu emphasized the movement's goal to "liberate" the region from poverty and unmet political promises. Addressing supporters in Sibanga, he said, "We want to save you from the shackles of oppression and corruption."
Babu criticized the government's failure to deliver on employment and empowerment pledges, questioning the tangible benefits for youth and women. He asked, "Youth were promised jobs; how many here have them? Women were told they'd move from kiosks to supermarkets; how many own supermarkets now?"
He also highlighted the difficulties faced by boda boda operators, citing harassment and financial struggles amid rising living costs.
The legislator urged for leadership that prioritizes job creation, support for small businesses, and cost of living reduction.
Linda Mwananchi Rally Draws Thousands in Trans Nzoia
The tour in Trans Nzoia attracted large crowds at multiple trading centers. The delegation included Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, and other allied leaders.
Senator Sifuna expressed gratitude for public financial support through donations, stating, "We don't need Kasongo's money; we will walk with the power of the citizens."
Governor Natembeya called for unity among leaders, while Senator Khalwale urged residents to back the people-driven movement as the 2027 General Election approaches.
This rally was part of Linda Mwananchi's nationwide campaign focused on governance, economy, youth unemployment, and cost of living issues as opposition groups seek to grow grassroots support ahead of the polls.
