Authorities in Bomet County are investigating the murder of Abigael Chepkemoi, a prison warder whose body was discovered inside her residence in Sotik town on Friday.

Sotik Sub-County Police Commander Sammy Choge indicated that initial inquiries point to a possible love triangle as the motive, though detectives continue to probe the circumstances and identify suspects.

"We have lost one of our officers serving in the Kenya Prisons Service. The crime scene officers have collected evidence, and we will provide updates as the investigation progresses," Choge stated.

The incident has deeply affected the local community, prompting police to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

At the time of her death, Chepkemoi was attached to Sotik Prison. Her body was taken to Kaplong Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei expressed sorrow over the loss, emphasizing the need to safeguard young people and ensure perpetrators face justice. "It is heartbreaking to lose a young officer over trivial family disputes. We must protect our youth and continue to demand accountability to prevent such violence," she remarked.
