Kenya Power confirmed the full restoration of electricity supply to all areas affected by a widespread blackout that occurred on Wednesday night.

In an update released early Thursday morning, the utility stated that power was completely restored by 2:00 am. The outage impacted customers in Nairobi, the Coast region, Mt Kenya, and parts of the Central Rift.

Earlier reports indicated that the North Rift and Western regions remained unaffected, with power supply stable despite the disruption elsewhere.

Kenya Power's response included:

  • Deploying technical teams to identify the cause of the blackout and expedite restoration efforts.
  • Issuing public apologies for the inconvenience caused to customers during the outage.
  • Thanking customers for their patience and support throughout the restoration process.

While the company has yet to disclose the root cause of the blackout, it reassured the public that normal electricity service has resumed across all affected regions.

The blackout initially prompted widespread concern, with numerous social media reports from users experiencing power loss before Kenya Power officially acknowledged the incident.
