Two students from Hebesha Academy lost their lives in a road accident along the Mikinduri-Kunati road in Meru County on Wednesday, July 29.

The bus, operated by the Mugambi Imanyara Foundation, was transporting pupils returning from a school trip when it crashed in the Gumba area of Thangatha Ward, Tigania East Constituency.

Several other passengers sustained injuries and were receiving treatment. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

MP Mpuru Aburi Responds

Tigania East Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi confirmed the tragedy via a statement on his Facebook page. He expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the families who lost children and those affected by the crash.

"I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their beloved children and loved ones. During this painful time, may the Almighty grant you strength and comfort," Aburi said. He also wished a speedy recovery for those injured.

Condolences to School Community

Aburi further conveyed sympathy to Hebesha Academy’s management, teachers, pupils, and the entire school community impacted by the incident.

"May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may God provide healing and hope to all who are grieving," the MP added.

Authorities have yet to release detailed information regarding the number of injured and the condition of the survivors.
